Bulgaria National
Preparations
In preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the National
Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) in Bulgaria launched the preparatory
process in January 2001.
The activities planned are as follows:
- Elaboration of a workable definition of sustainable development for
Bulgaria
- Review of the national and local sustainable development initiatives
- Assessment of the National Development Plan (to assess if it promotes long
- term economic, social and environmental sustainability)
- Conducting national assessment and preparing the National Report on
Sustainable Development
An expert group has been established, and representatives from sectoral
ministries and prominent national consultants have been invited to participate
in its work.
