| Chile National Preparations Chile has established a Committee for the national preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development. The Ministries of the National System for Sustainable Development are represented in the Committee. The Committee is coordinating the elaboration of the "National Report on Strategies for Sustainable Development" which first version will be presented at the Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on October 23rd and 24th , 2001.The report has been elaborated under UNEP´s guidelines and was analyzed by the Council of Sustainable Development of Chile on January 9th , 2001. Chile hosted the Southern Cone Subregional Preparatory Meeting for the World Summit on June 14th and 15th , 2001. Delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay participated in the meeting. The document "Aportes de la Reunión Preparatoria del Cono Sur para la Cumbre Mundial sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible a la Plataforma Regional de América Latina y el Caribe," was approved.
